Ode to the Dining Room Table

So, I sold our dining room table today. THE dining room table that my dad had as I was growing up. Yes, the VERY one that hosted many drinking nights on it. That table has hosted many games of quarters, etc. etc....For all my high school friends, I ask you to raise a toast to THE dining room table. It was a Schwager Legend. I called Keith & Linda and gave them the news this afternoon. Everyone agreed that it was a bittersweet day :)
On a mommy note, after the table was picked up, Bailey moved her little table into the dining room and proclaimed that we can eat off of it until our new one comes in. I might just cancel our order :)

Christmas Fun

We had such a fun Christmas! The girls really enjoyed all that Santa brought to them and had a blast playing with all of their new toys yesterday. Bailey was so excited that she got her Barbie Mariposa doll and Lia seems to like her Barbie Diamond Castle doll as well.
Bailey was also really impressed that Santa got her a sleeping bag even though she didn't even ask for one :) We put both bags in the teepee that paw paw and ginny got the girls for christmas and they have had fun "camping" in their playroom. Bailey seems to have a warped (yet cute) concept of camping. Yesterday she had on high heels, 10 necklaces, 5 rings and a tiara and was proclaiming that she was the Camping Queen. This morning she told me that she wanted to wear her camping dress. Bill really wants to take the girls camping soon. I think it will be the first time for Bill that a feather boa and tiara will be a requirement. It will be quite comical when we roll up to the campsite with Miss Camping Queen in tow!
The girls both love Lia's new slide. They have spent countless hours pushing each other down it. Bailey has taught Lia how to go down face first already. I smell trouble......

Lia fell asleep early in Christmas Eve so she missed setting out cookies for Santa and apples for the reindeer. That is why she isn't in the first picture :(

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas too!

Week of Travel

Bailey, Lia, and I are on a marathon family visit week. We started off going to Natchez on Tuesday so that Lia could get her 1 year portrait done. BTW, she did amazing and we picked a BEAUTIFUL picture to hang in the living room. I can't wait to see it! We visited with pawpaw and ginny in Natchez for a night then traveled to baton rouge to see Keith and Nat's new house on wednesday. We then picked up yesterday and went to Lake Charles to visit with mere and bb. Then, on sat. we are going back to baton rouge to visit with Keith's clan for one more night before we head home! I think I'm insane....
But, we are having a great time seeing everyone and Bill is supposed to go hunting this weekend and "shoot a deer so we can have deer meat." (that is a direct quote from Bailey!) The kid loves to eat deer meat, go figure.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. I will DEFINITELY post pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. I can't wait :)

Not Everyone Likes Santa....

We went last night to do the obligatory Santa pictures. Bailey was very excited to see santa and tell him that she wanted a Barbie Mariposa doll for Christmas. Lia, on the other hand, wanted NOTHING to do with him. She got her joys from laughing @ the little elf that stood outside of Santa's entrance. However, I felt that we NEEDED to get both girls pictures taken with the Big Guy, much to Lia's resistance. Who doesn't want to hold down a screaming one year old so that she can get her picture taken with a strange man in a red suit and very fake white beard?! I don't know who I felt more sorry for, Santa or Lia.

Gingerbread House

Bailey made a gingerbread house today @ school. A parent was supposed to come help assemble houses and Bailey wanted Bill to go. Ever since I went to Linda's, Bailey has been wanting Bill to take her to school and ballet. She was very excited that daddy could come help her with her project. They did a wonderful job on the house! When they got home, Bailey decided that she needed to add to it so the pictures show her doing some more artwork.

Christmas Tree

Bill and I went out of town this weekend BY OURSELVES to a friend's wedding. We had such fun but I was ready to come home on Sunday so we could get our Christmas tree. Bill really likes to get our trees from the boy scouts and their sale was over the weekend. We let Bailey pick out the tree and it is gigantic. I love it, though. It is by far the nicest tree we have ever had We also bought all new lights for it. They are the LED ones that take less energy and they cast a really neat glow on the ceiling. I finally invested in all new unbreakable decor too. Lia is a little devil and I don't trust her. Bailey loves to crawl underneath it. Here are some pictures of the girls enjoying their big tree :)

I'm HUGE!

This morning Bill and I awoke to little giggles in Bailey & Lia's room. I peeked through the door before going in there and saw the two of them kissing each other through the slats in Lia's bed. it was really sweet. When I walked in Bailey and I had the following conversation:

Bailey: "Mommy, I woke Lia up this morning. I just rubbed her back and she woke up."

Mommy: "Why did you do that?"

Bailey: "Because I wanted to teach her about sizes."

Mommy: "What did you teach her?"

Bailey: "I taught her that me and daddy are medium, Lia is small, and mommy, you are big."

Mommy: "I'm big?!"

Bailey: "Yes, you are. Stand up."

I proceed to stand up off her bed....

Bailey: "Look at you! You are huge!!!"

Mommy: "So I am huge and you and daddy are medium?"

Bailey" "Yes, you are huge."

I'm hoping that she meant tall :)

About Me

My photo
I am blessed to be able to stay home with my girlies and have a home based business. Someone told me once that I was the ultimate modern woman! I don't know if I'd go that far but I definitely love the fact that I can make money for my family and, at the same time, be there to experience all those "little moments" in my children's lives.
